5. Michel Platini

There aren't too many legends bigger in stature than Michel Platini. Today, he is President of UEFA, and is in charge of governing such competitions as the Champions and Europa League, but he was also a pretty decent footballer in his time, too. Despite being a midfielder, he was France's all-time top goalscorer until striker Thierry Henry surpassed the 41 goals mark back in 2007. Known as a free-kick specialist, Platini was also considered one of the best passers of the ball in the game, and holds the rather unique record of most goals scored in the history of the European Championships. Why is that unique? He only appeared in the 1984 edition. Platini spent most of his playing career in France, netting 98 goals for Nancy and 58 for Saint-tienne, before joining Juventus in 1982, ending his career in Turin having scored a further 68 goals. There aren't too many midfielders who manage 224 career goals, and that's but one reason why he deserved a spot on Ultimate Team.
