FIFA 15: 10 Brand New Features To Make It The Best Ever

10. Howitzers & Goals From The Halfway Line

We've all scored a great goal or two while playing FIFA. Be it from a sparkling build-up that involves a neat bit of skill or an overhead kick Wayne Rooney style, the game's instant replay feature has been used to upload some truly special finishes to YouTube. However, shooting feels too formulaic in the series at the moment. You shoot and the ball follows a preordained flight-path that either results in a save from the goalkeeper or a goal. FIFA's shooting system currently does not take into account the unexpected - a sudden gust of wind that takes the ball over the head of the keeper or a last-minute swerve that catches him off-guard. We've seen goals like this throughout the Premier League era. David Beckham's halfway line goal vs Wimbledon in 1996 and, more recently, Rooney's long-ranged effort against West Ham back in March (pictured above). Even goalkeepers themselves have scored after their goal-kicks were picked up by the wind and carried into the back of the net (think Asmir Begovic circa 2013). FIFA 15 needs to recognise that goals can be banged in from near enough anywhere on the pitch and that in football, you should always expect the unexpected.
