FIFA 15: 15 New Legends Ratings Predictions

2. Franz Beckenbauer

Suggested Rating €“ 92 German football is currently going from strength to strength. The national side recently won the World Cup with relative ease and the youthful nature of the squad virtually guarantees that Germany will continue to be major contenders in European and World football. Despite the deeply talented squad, there isn€™t a Germany fan alive who wouldn€™t want to add Franz Beckenbauer (circa 1970) to their team. Beckenbauer is widely remembered as being the greatest German football to have kicked a football and is credited with pioneering the sweeper position which is so prevalent in continental football. No broomstick is required to be a quality sweeper, but rather an unparalleled ability to read the game and confidence under pressure (two qualities Beckenbauer certainly had in abundance). The fittingly nicknamed Der Kaiser's understanding of the game led to him being one of just two players to have won the World Cup as both a player and coach (the other being Mário Zagallo). Despite primarily being the last line of defense in the 13 years he spent at Bayern Munich, Beckenbauer was also adored by fans because of his tendency to break forward and dribble the ball all the way from his own box to that of his opponents. The induction of the two-time Ballon d€™Or winner to FIFA€™s list of Legends is long overdue.
