FIFA 14 Rating - 80 Once again, FIFA's researchers have done their homework and come up with an overall rating which provides a perfect impression of Matic's level of ability. Put simply, he's a very strong defensive midfielder whose return to Chelsea immediately resulted in the team's midfield solidifying considerably, with his physical presence and reading of the game making him a first choice pick for Jose Mourinho. A good six months and burgeoning reputation may see his overall rating slightly increase, but personally I'd be conservative and keep it the same for now, waiting to see how he does in his first full season back at the Bridge before signing off on any big changes. Surprisingly, while his overall rating is a fair reflection, his individual ratings seem skewed in several of the wrong places. His short passing, at 81, is too high given his tendency to give the ball away under pressure. I'd lower it a scooch to around 76. Yet again, his positioning is ridiculously low at 66, despite it being one of his biggest strengths in real life. He wouldn't make half the number of interceptions he does if he didn't know where to stand, so knocking that up to 80 would seem fair. Increases for Heading, Balance and a minor top-up for Agility wouldn't go amiss either, nor would small drops in Curve and Vision.
