FIFA 17 Rating - 84

A rapidly fading force in the Manchester United side, Rooney’s laughably exaggerated 84-rating doesn’t accurately acknowledge how much his influence on the field has begun to wither and wane over the last 12 months.

Many will assert that the United and England captain was the victim of Louis Van Gaal’s excruciating loyalty to defensive pragmatism as well as being deployed a deep-lying midfield role, but a paltry total of eight Premier League goals from from 28 outings is an indication of Rooney’s regression and the lowest return of his 12-year Old Trafford career to date.

To apply some context to the 31-year-old’s rating, he is ranked in the same bracket as England colleague Harry Kane; a player seven years his junior and one whose Premier League goal tally last season was triple that of Rooney’s.
