Sunderland's performances in the Premier League this season are a fair reflection of what a Career Mode with the club would be like. A painfully dull experience, avoiding relegation will take up most of your time in charge of the club.

Similar to Middlesbrough's squad, Sunderland don't particularly boast a lot of household names, and most of the names they do have are known due to their failures at larger clubs. Sunderland are certainly a middle of the road club who's fortunes can be turned around with a little bit of work.

The biggest issue you'll face as Sunderland manager is that three of your four most promising youngsters are loanees. Adnan Januzaj, Jason Denayer and Manquillo all possess a potential greater than 80, but will depart the club at the end of the first season.

Excluding these 3, Sunderland have 5 players 25 years or under expected to reach a potential of above 80. At the age of 33, Jermaine Defoe won't be around forever, so a replacement striker should be a priority. Not the most challenging team to be in charge of, it's probably wise to avoid starting a new Career Mode as Sunderland.
