FIFA 18: 10 Players With The Most Potential For Growth

9. Dayot Upamecano (RB Leipzig)

Maybe you prefer to stick a young defender alongside someone more experienced and watch with a grin as they go on to become world class. That will happen if you sign 18-year old Dayot Upamecano from Red Bull Leipzig. This kid is going to be something special in FIFA 18, trust us.

His 69 base rating isn't all that bad for a youth player, so it's not as though you'll suffer during that first season if you stick him in at CB. Do yourself a favour though and play Upamecano alongside someone you trust. It's better to be safe than sorry, and the Frenchman won't take long to get up to speed. His potential is high.

Following ample game time, Upamecano can reach an overall rating of 86. His pace and defending stats are already high, so that 17 point jump should happen fairly quickly. If you're playing as Real Madrid, for example, there are worse ideas than using Upamecano alongside Sergio Ramos as much as possible.
