FIFA 18: Ranking Every Major New Feature (From Worst To Best)

5. Dramatic Moments

FIFA 18
EA Sports

Veteran FIFA players will know all about EA's sneaky love of scripting. We've all been there: you're 1-0 up and about to seal the cup. Right before the ref blows his whistle, the CPU suddenly digs deep and scores a scorcher to take things to extra time. There's nothing you could have done differently. That was always going in.

FIFA 18 tweaks this a little, but the same rules generally apply. When the CPU feels like scoring, it'll be unstoppable even if you've assembled the best defensive back line this side of Turin. It's ludicrous to watch Juventus crumble against mediocre sides like West Ham with moments to go just because the computer fancies touting 'Dramatic Moments'.

Thank God EA have toned this down a tad this year. Although it is still there, there's not that same unnerving feeling of powerlessness. Much like changing weather, this is something EA Sports really need to get the balance right on. Turning it down isn't enough, we want drama to feel organic and spur of the moment.
