FIFA 18 Top 100: 7 Biggest Surprises

3. The Drop In Stats For Some Top Stars

According to FIFA, Lionel Messi isn't quite as good at dribbling with the ball as he was last year. Why else would the Barcelona legend go from a 96 stat to 95? That seems to be change for the sake of it, and Messi isn't alone either. EA's tampering has extended to others like Cristiano Ronaldo and even PSG's new star man Neymar.

Bizarrely, the Brazilian's pace has also taken a one point dip (95 to 94), with the same fall for his passing (79 to 78). As for Ronaldo, even being FIFA 18's poster boy couldn't save him from suffering hits to his overall stats in the game. It's strange to see FIFA's top trio become slightly worse players in some areas.

Ronaldo's pace has gone from 92 to 90 and his dribbling from 91 to 90. There are small improvements to other stats that compensate for these changes, but they still come across as strange considering the glittering achievements and goal-scoring records all three had in season 2016-17.
