2. Gareth Bale's Drop (6th to 17th)

After hauling Wales to the semi final stage of EURO 2016, the right wing skills of Gareth Bale were rewarded with a place as the 6th best player overall in FIFA 17. In EA's opinion, last season wasn't quite so sparkling, and that's why Bale looks on enviously at Real Madrid team mates like Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos, and Cristiano Ronaldo this year.

Now ranked 17th for this year's game, Bale is surprisingly below others like Alexis Sánchez and even falls just short of another Madrid chum. Bernabéu playmaker Luka Modrić is in 12th position, a full five slots ahead of his Welsh colleague. For someone expected to be bothering the top spots this year, that has to be disappointing.

Perhaps a return to the Premier League would reinvigorate the Welshman's career. Saying that, he's hardly doing badly by winning trophies galore with Madrid, but he isn't quite as celebrated as his natural talents suggest he should be.
