FIFA 18 Wishlist: 10 Things That Must Be Included
5. A Deeper Journey
The Journey was a welcome addition to last year’s game, and a complete change of pace from existing modes like Career and Ultimate Team. Offering players a new, RPG-like experience, The Journey saw gamers guide English prospect Alex Hunter through his first season in senior football, taking him all the way from pre-season to the FA Cup final, adding some much-needed diversity to the series.
The Journey wasn’t without its problems, however. It was a relatively short game mode that only allowed us to play a single season, and a rigid experience with little in the way of player choice. No matter how you played, Hunter’s journey always finished in the exact same place, and there were very few ways to create your own experience during the game mode.
EA have already confirmed that The Journey will return for FIFA 18, so here’s hoping they add some depth to it. Additional seasons should be the first step, but it’d be great to see EA implement more than just the English Premier League and give players the chance to sign for clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Furthermore, increased choices, more dialogue, and greater interactions with other players, managers, and fans would go a long, long way to improving The Journey as a whole.
