FIFA 19: 10 Changes From Last Year's Game You Need To Know

4. Increased Physicality

"With 50/50 Battles, user reactions and player attributes determine the outcome for winning loose balls across the pitch. With increased teammate intelligence and spatial awareness, every challenge matters in the fight for possession".

We'll see, but that description from EA's site does sound rather promising for those who bemoaned the lack of physicality in FIFA 18. 50/50s should never be less than full-force, blood and thunder contests that result in one player spinning away with the ball neatly and another hitting the turf hard. That's football, and it's something EA have often struggled to get right.

They're promising a vast improvement over 18's toil in that department this year.

If they nail it, good. FIFA games in general could be doing with a bit less ice-skating from players. This isn't an NHL game, and it shouldn't look like the world's best footballers are scared of getting mud on their studs when they tackle. A more satisfying thump when two players come together would be brill.
