FIFA 19: 10 Changes From Last Year's Game You Need To Know
5. Arcade Shooting?
The official party line from EA is that this new feature is called 'Timed Finishing'. It means players with expert timing will be able to blast off unstoppable shots, volleys and headers, and it'll mean the rest of us will thunder balls out of the stadium.
In practice, it works with the game's better players, although 'Times Finishing' doesn't sound quite as accurate as 'Arcade Shooting' would. At times, the new mechanic adds an Adidas Power Soccer-style 'Predator Kick' (those were the days) to matches, and it leaves goalkeepers scrambling to pick up their teeth from the goal line.
Is it totally new? Sort of.
Past FIFA game have had similar shooting styles. In 18, it was possible to fire off one-timers that left goalies helpless, and EA's series has a rich history with net-bursting strikes. In theory, these risk/reward times shots will add some arcade quality back into FIFA.
