FIFA 19: 10 Things EA Should Steal From PES

5. Individual Player Characteristics

PES 2018

PES doesn't only focus on things like superior speed, ball control, shooting or heading. No, Konami have spliced in some genuine real-world player characteristics that make them individuals. There are two notable examples of this.

Firstly, Luis Suárez is a diving git who will gladly throw himself to the grass if your defender so much as dares to impede him during a run. This over-the-top behaviour feels realistic, because it's what the Barcelona forward does in real life.

Secondly, Neymar is a bit of a showman and players can unlock a special celebration by scoring a late equaliser or winner with him. Getting carried away, the Brazilian maestro will sometimes peel off his kit and celebrate semi-naked. Again, it comes across like something he would do in the colours of PSG.

FIFA doesn't have these unique characteristics, and it's time EA started putting them in. They might be superficial, but at least they're legitimate actions by football's biggest superstars that fans are used to seeing on TV.
