FIFA 19: 10 Things EA Should Steal From PES
6. Stats Making A Difference To Top Players
If the ball falls to Gonzalo HiguaĆn inside the box, chances are the Juventus striker is getting a shot on target. Although the keeper may deny him with a great save, it's unlikely the Argentinian hitman will blast the ball wide just because players didn't quite press the shoot button when the game wanted them to.
That should only really happen when gamers are playing as teams of lesser quality, not with the best in the world.
Another source of frustration is the speed issue. When Cristiano Ronaldo thrusts forward like football's most graceful gazelle, he's hard to catch. Players shouldn't be punished by slowdown (enabling CPU defenders to catch up), and that's what happens in FIFA. It doesn't in PES.
Chances are that stats will make a difference to the top performers in Konami's franchise. The result is a much better flow of match; the stars stand out as difference-makers, and the rest have to either tweak tactics or stop them with force and accept the referee's punishment.
