To be completely frank, Mesut Özil hasn't been good enough to play for a top team in a very long time. Now, we could make an easy joke about Arsenal not being a top team, but the truth is the Gunners are still world-class. Özil is not.

Mesut Özil has been on something of a downward trajectory since the 2010 World Cup. That might sound ridiculous but here's the thing; after that tournament he was considered an absolute world-beater. Since then it's been a downward spiral; he joined Real Madrid and failed to light the world on fire; signed for Arsenal three years later and has been little more than a suck on wages ever since.

Özil doesn't add goals or assists to Arsenal, and he's only still at the club because no other team is willing to pay him his wages. The signing of Nicholas Pepe at Arsenal means Özil will spend the majority of the season on the bench.

The 30-year old would be far better suited at a mid-table Premier League team, or somewhere in Italy or Germany. He has survived on name alone and, with that in mind, anything above an 80 rating in FIFA 20 is preposterous.
