FIFA 21: 10 Players Who Will Be Totally Overrated

6. Carlos Vela

Capable of playing for Europe's elite, he's choosing the easy end to his playing career.

Let me preface this by saying that, whatever league you play in, Carlos Vela's 34 goals and 10 assists in the 2019 MLS season is an insane achievement that deserves praise.

We must also consider that the scoring goals in the MLS as Carlos Vela is like taking candy from a baby. There's no challenge.

Before his move to LAFC, the Mexican winger joined Arsenal in 2006 at the age of just 16. He struggled to impress and was sold to Real Sociedad 6 years later.

Here he began to thrive, grabbing anywhere between 12 and 28 goals and assists in La Liga between 2012 and 2017.

When you track his form, however, you could see that Vela was on a slow decline, and this hit tipping point in the 2017/18 season where he achieved just 1 goal and 1 assist in 14 league games.

He was quickly sold off to LAFC after this.

The fact of the matter is that Vela has shown he is capable of being a good player in Europe, and his achievements in the US simply do not warrant an 83 rating, which puts him higher than the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Steven Bergwijn and Angel Correa.
