FIFA 23: 10 Rumours You Need To Know

3. EA Are Redesigning Set Pieces

Speaking of hitting Row Z! That's what this gamer does pretty much any time he has a free kick on the edge of the box. Players never seem to strike the ball with any conviction, and instead float it aimlessly over the bar or harmlessly into the keeper's gloves.

Changes are afoot.

The rumour mill says that EA will give you the choice of exactly where players hit the ball. Basically, if you want to give it some backspin, you'll smash the bottom portion. Laces through it more your kind of thing? Go straight down the middle and keep a finger on that button until the power bar is almost maxed out.

Set pieces have always felt a bit loose in FIFA, even with incremental updates to the way they work, so it'd be nice to have a bit more control. A complete overhaul of how corners and free kicks work could take FIFA's gameplay to the next level for some.
