2. Cloud Strife
Sure, he's the star of the show, but he's got the same spiky hair, angsty-dude look that every protagonist character seemed to have in RPGs at the time.
It's hard gauging much from Cloud's personality at first, as he lifts his entire persona from Zack until late in the game.
Being the main character and all, he's got solid all-round great stats. Cloud isn't the strongest, nor the toughest or the best for magic, but he does just about everything pretty well.
This makes him perfect to build in your own personal way. How could his limit breaks not be the best? He literally saves the world and ends the final battle with Omnislash.
This is his game, so obviously his story is what we're all here for. Starting as the cocky and confident ex-SOLDIER, we strip away the layers of his fake backstory to get to the core of who Cloud really is, and how he steps up to be the hero the world needs.
Breaking through his psychological issues is one of the most satisfying storylines in gaming.
