Final Fantasy 7 Remake HANDS ON: 8 Ups & 3 Downs

Way back in June of last year, a number of images showing off the remake's in-game graphics were released and, once everyone had finished losing their minds at how good it all looked, another entirely predictable conversation began to emerge.

A vocal minority, presumably unable to even consider playing a video game unless they're physically able to tug themselves off to the pause menu, got upset about a perceived reduction in the size of Tifa's breasts.

Never mind that the original character model had knockers larger than her head, or that Advent Children had greatly improved Tifa's entire look by making it more practical, it was somehow going to be a betrayal of both her and game if the studio didn't stick two beachballs on her chest and let them bounce around during combat.

Normal people would probably expect these complaints to go comically ignored, but given that this is the same studio that bumped Lightning's cup size up in Final Fantasy XIII, and described the ability to rotate the camera to see up her costumes as "something for the player to uncover and enjoy", we shouldn't have got our hopes up.

Thus the finished look for Tifa in the Final Fantasy VII Remake is one with an inflated chest, tiny waist, and slender limbs.

It looks like a plastic sex doll, and in 2020 it wasn't unreasonable for us to expect better.
