Final Fantasy 7 Remake HANDS ON: 8 Ups & 3 Downs
2. Nobody Talks Like That

This is the pettiest gripe, and one that I'm fairly sure won't bother a fair chunk of people playing the game, but some of the dialogue choices and voice-acting leaves a lot to be desired.
This was perhaps a battle Square Enix could never have won though, and the only people who will really find fault with this are those who've played the original to the point of being able to recite the script word for word. We have already heard the perfect delivery of these lines in our own heads, and there was no way the studio was going to be able to match that.
Still though, falling back into the classic video game voice-acting tropes of the past decade feels slightly unnecessary. It's a million miles from still-memeable misfires like the original Resident Evil, and nowhere near as bad as Final Fantasy X, but given where the bar is now with Red Dead, The Last of Us, and Horizon there's still a lot of room for improvement.
