Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2: 7 Enemies We NEED To Fight

Midgar Zolom or we riot.

When Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced at E3 2015, the fanbase of the 1997 original collectively lost its mind.

Now, following the first instalment in 2020 and 2021's “EPISODE INTERmission/Intergrade”, people still talk about the standout enemy encounters from Remake. With the significantly fleshed out Hell House encounter, or brand new bosses like the Whisper Harbinger, one of the biggest questions fans have is which of the hundreds of remaining enemy types may make an appearance in future instalments.

Since part one takes the player to the outskirts of Midgar, the majority of the game world remains to be seen, and, despite Remake’s ending heavily implying that events will play out in unexpected ways, we can be sure that like its predecessor, the next part of the project will feature updated versions of classic enemies.

Which are you most excited about seeing? Here are seven Final Fantasy VII enemies on our Remake Project wish list.

7. Yuffie Kisaragi

We're kicking this list off with a left-field entry, which may be a bit of a head-scratcher for those who have played Remake Intergrade but not the original game (though there's plenty elsewhere for those players to be confused about too).

Given her ubiquity in the compilation as a whole, it's crazy to think that Yuffie was an entirely optional party member in FFVII; first appearing as a hidden opponent, intent on liberating the party of their materia.

Could an encounter like this happen in Remake Part 2?

Yuffie's appearance in Midgar and the story deviations that come with it – particularly as regards to her character's maturity, moral compass and priorities – might suggest not.

However, the distinct way in which Cloud is hinted at, but never seen by Yuffie, sets our suspicions racing. While it's true that she glimpsed Barret and Tifa, and met other members of Avalanche, she remains unaware of the existence of the rest of FFVII's playable cast.

Were Barret and Tifa to be separated from the others, we could see a situation in which the plucky ninja meets our other heroes in an adversarial position, perhaps due to some misunderstanding. That said, one of Remake's more significant changes to the original's story means that a certain Cetra might recognise Yuffie, even if the feeling isn't mutual.
