Final Fantasy XV: 10 Perfect Fan Theories That Make Everything Better

2. Multiple Timelines

One theory goes that the Omen trailer – where Noctis is driving alone and is attacked by Niflheim soldiers – is a timeline shown to King Regis by the crystal.

King Regis, asking that the gods forgive him, uses the power of the crystal to manipulate time and change events – asking the bros to go with Noctis and to protect him. We know the crystal has the power to manipulate time as we can move back and forth between past Lucis, past Altissia and the present.

After fighting our way through Insomnia and defeating Ardyn, he lies on the ground and asks if he'll be erased from history again – not only suggesting that it is possible, but that it has happened before.

The game then ends with the wedding scene – which most of us assumed was Noctis and Lunafreya in death – and then with the bros pushing the car like at the beginning of the game. The last line uttered is Gladio hoping that this isn't all “just some sort of omen”.

The theory states that King Regis is manipulating time again and again, forcing the bros to relive the events of the game, with slight differences (omens), until they reach a desirable outcome; the happy ending, where Noctis finally marries Lunafreya.

This theory also serves to give King Regis - a great character largely absent from the main game - much more prominence.
