9. RC Strasbourg Alsace
Racing Club de Strasbourg was one of the great French clubs until their liquidation in 2011. In truth, despite being one of only six French sides to play over 2000 top flight games, Strasbourg had bounced around the divisions for a while, suffering three Ligue 1 relegations in the 2000s. They've not been back since 2008 and, after back-to-back promotions, now find themselves in National - the third tier of French football. Under the name RC Strasbourg Alsace, their current side has no players you're likely to have heard of but are expected to work their way back up to Ligue 1. They could be cast as 'sleeping giant', as they're one of six French clubs to win all three major domestic trophies. Their Ligue 1 success in 1979 preceded a European Cup quarter-final run and Strasbourg have played 52 European matches in total. It's a juicy prospect to take such a historical team back where they belong and eventually challenge PSG and Marseille at the top of Ligue 1.
