If you're in need of a holding midfielder and have a fairly healthy budget, Bender is certainly an upgrade on Simão. The German international is a fantastic ball-winning midfielder, though his reputation makes him slightly harder to lure. For one reason or another, Dortmund don't hold out for too much money if you make the transfer approach. £10m is more than enough to tempt the German club into selling, though Bender's wages may be more excessive than other alternatives. Similarly to Simão, Bender (26) is at the peak of his powers. If you're looking for immediate quality in the middle of the park, there are few better choices.
