4. Better Youth Products

By the turn of the millennium, what was then known as Championship Manager began to implement the concept of youth academies. Crazy, right? Along with overseeing a reserve team, adding a youth team was the next natural step for the game.

At that point, players would have sporadic youngsters randomly added to their squad each and every season. Since then, we’ve seen full-on youth teams incorporated into FM. Of course, not each and every club has a great youth system in place, and improving the youth training facilities is part and parcel of a manager’s FM experience.

The problem that many gamers have, though, is that, regardless of how great their youth facilities are rated, it’s extremely rare for a truly great youngster to be generated for your club. Even more-so, it’s near impossible to get more than one semi-decent youth prospect at any one time.

This has been a long-standing FM problem, and maybe FM 2020 will be the time that this issue finally gets addressed.
