8. Loser: Epic Games

Since 2017, Epic Games has been in the Fortnite business. When it comes to profit, no doubt they are one of the biggest earners in the industry.

Its F2P battle royale mode is a pop-culture phenomenon that has continued to grow in popularity, with it even landing 'Best Ongoing Game' category at this year's Game Awards.

So in those terms, Epic is hardly a loser. However, when it comes to the Epic Game Store, it has been nothing but pure controversy all year long.

To the disdain of the PC scene, the studio bought exclusive rights to certain titles, keeping them off any other storefronts (aka Steam) and severing the game community. Even worse is that this results in the removing of pre-orders bought on alternative storefronts.

It has caused a big stir and soured the rep of the company to their beloved PC gamers. Let's just ignore the fact they give out a free game every week though...
