Game Publishers Of 2019: 6 Biggest Winners & 6 Biggest Losers

9. Winner: Nintendo

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

After rightfully burying the dead-on-arrival Wii U and launching the Switch, everything has been on the up-and-up for the big N.

The Switch is continuing to sell like hotcakes, but what really made it a stellar year is the games. We received a non-stop flood of high-quality releases with Pokémon Sword and Shield, Luigi's Mansion 3, Super Mario Maker 2 and Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

And while Super Smash Bros: Ultimate launched last December, it's been a constant mainstay throughout the year due to never-ending character packs releasing every few months.

Add to that, excellent third-party exclusives like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Astral Chain and (basically) everything by Devolver Digital. Plus Microsoft even gave the rights to Xbox exclusives like Ori and the Blind Forest and Cuphead.

There is very little Furukawa and co are doing wrong at the moment, and very little reason to believe that it will change next year.
