Game Publishers Of 2019: 6 Biggest Winners & 6 Biggest Losers

7. Winner: Activision

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice
From Software

We're living in strange times when the 'evil overlords' of the game industry have gone through a whole year without a single stumble (almost).

On the games front, it's been nothing but net positive: Crash Team Racing brought the cult racing title back, Modern Warfare was the best COD title in years, plus Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was a take-no-prisoners-effort that rightly landed 'Game Of The Year'. They even managed to do the unthinkable and make a decent COD mobile game.

But it hasn't only been on the software front that Activision has been earning points. It severed ties with Bungie and the Destiny I.P. in (gasp!!!) amicable fashion, allowing the studio to walk away with full control and rights to the franchise.

The controversy stirred up by the Blizzard vs. Hong Kong ordeal wasn't pretty, but that has seemed to be forgotten after the double whammy announcement of Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 at Blizzcon.

Selective memory I guess?
