EA announced during Gamescom that the open beta for Battlefield V will launch on September 4 for those who dare to pre-order or are members of Origin Access Premier, Origin Access Basic, or EA Access, while mere mortals will have to wait until September 6.

The beta will show off the new maps Rotterdam and Arctic Fjord, the latter also allowing players to sample the new game mode Grand Operations, in which a multiplayer match unfolds over several maps with a distinct narrative element.

Furthermore, fans will be able to test out the new Tides of War mode, a story-driven adventure which will release new content to gamers periodically. A games as a service model, basically.

Pre-load for the beta begins on September 3 so you don't have to waste any time at all.
