5. Gears Of War 4
Many have started to ask the question, should Gears of War come back after 3, or should we have left that original trilogy alone and treasure it for years to come? Well, that didn’t happen.
We got 4, which is seen as the "Force Awakens" of the series, because from top to bottom, this game is very safe.
Thankfully some new weapons like the Enforcer served to mix up multiplayer enough - finally countering hardcore Gnasher users and bringing the Gears multiplayer to the current generation of consoles.
The new cast of characters are just fine, and for most of this fourth entry, they remain that way as they along with old man Marcus discovered that the Locust threat has returned in the form of the Swarm. Which is something that is totally underplayed and should be way more of a dramatic moment in Gears of War 4.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the best start for Kait, JD and Del. Gears 4 was the best playing Gears game at the time, but robotic DeeBee’s weren't that satisfying to shoot, the story felt flat for the most part, and even the horde mode felt forced in. Everyone loves a bit of horde, but not three separate times in a campaign.
