Gears Of War: Judgment - 10 Reasons It's Awesome

4. Map Design

To say that Judgment will make you feel more "boxed in" than ever before is a comment that requires qualification. Indeed, the exhausting number of enemies the game throws at you makes Cole and Baird's squad feel more imposed upon than any from the previous games, yet at the same time, the maps themselves are far less linear than the other games, meaning that you do have noticably more freedom to move about and plan your stand against the next wave of foes. Given the nature of the new spawn system, a more intricate degree of level design was a must, and People Can Fly totally pulled it off. Both in the single player and the multiplayer, this is the best-designed of the Gears games, boasting far more ambitious map design that's intelligent and intuitive. In the single player component, this will pertain to the sheer wealth of options available to survive the day, and online, it relates to the various defense-points, hallways - great for bottle-necking enemies - and sniper spots that allow you to get a defensive and offensive stronghold on the opposition.
