11. Faye Is Short For Laufey
We never meet Kratos’ wife Faye in the game but her presence is felt throughout, being the driving force for Kratos and Atreus’ journey and the very thing that binds them together.
It is not until the very end of their journey that it is revealed that Faye’s true name, or unabridged name is Laufey, a giantess in Norse mythology and mother to Loki. In the same vein that the developers hide Atreus’ true name in the very house that players start in, Faye (or Fey) acts as another hidden reference to her true heritage, only to be revealed at the very end.
It’s also sneaky that the subtitles right her name as Faye to cover their tracks even further, just in case anyone guessed too early on.
