Kratos has taken on his fair share of monsters, both big and small through the Greek series and with his adventure into Norse mythology, it’s no different.

After defeating the two trolls in Tyr’s temple, Kratos remarks “I’ve beaten bigger”, to which Atreus responds with “heh, puny troll”. It’s hard to miss the similarities for those familiar and a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s interpretation of the Norse god, Thor.

In Thor’s debut movie in the MCU, the God of Thunder is confronted by a big S.H.I.E.L.D agent when infiltrating the site that surrounds his hammer. “You’re big” he remarks. “Fought bigger” he adds.

If that’s not enough to convince you, Atreus’ line “puny troll” echoes the words of the Hulk after smashing Loki into the ground of Stark Tower in The Avengers.

Given that Atreus is eventually revealed to be Loki, it’s a nice little nod to his counterpart in another universe.
