God Of War 2017 Wishlist: 10 Things We Want To See

1. Týr

God Of War
Marvel Studios

Týr is another god who doesn't fit neatly into our desire for mythological figures to be 'god of X'. He is associated with law and glory, and normally shown one-handed, his hand having been gnawed off by the legendary wolf Fenrir. Among other things, Týr is a god of war, although he shares that honour with various other Norse gods (they really liked war).

What makes Týr really interesting is how he changes. At one point he was the highest authority among the gods, a Zeus-like figure who was the father of the Asgardians and head of the pantheon. Later on in Germanic and Scandinavian history he becomes overtaken in popularity by Odin and Thor.

The in-game reason for this might be a very angry Greek man with an axe who has form for taking down gods, especially ones of war.

Could a vendetta between Kratos and Týr form the heart of God of War's story, explaining the god's real-world decline? Could Týr turn out to be the God of War?
