4. Simpler Combat

God of War Ascension Kratos It's an inevitable by-product of a prequel, and while Kratos is still a total badass, the action does feel somewhat watered down in this latest entry. Though Kratos still hurls his Blades of Chaos around in signature style, the combat system is on the whole more simplified; the ludicrous array of weapons you'd amass throughout the previous games are gone, instead sticking with his most famed blades and little else. This naturally transpires through to the combat, which feels a little more piecemeal as a result; without the stupendous opportunities to change things up - though the new God powers are a welcome addition - the developers limit the player on the ways in which they can dispatch foes. Thus, the combat ends up feeling more laborious and repetitive than any previous entry, which is especially problematic during one section of the game that is destined to become infamous with players...
