5. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emjbuIaGpTQ Liberty City Stories is a fantastic entry into the franchise, just from a straight-up gameplay perspective even. Taking control of Toni Cipriani in a terrific prequel adventure to GTA III, Liberty City Stories took you back in time to see his rise through the criminal underworld. If you were familiar with Liberty City - as in you had it memorised like every other player - you were going to be just fine. Rockstar was really on point with the soundtrack for this one. LCS had a similar soundtrack set-up to Grand Theft Auto III, including returning radio stations such as Flashback FM, Double Clef FM and the Chatterbox talk radio show. The music is combined with the satirical flow of Rockstar taking aim at mainstream pop culture, even showing its displeasure for the 90's itself. It also continues to saga of DJ Lazlow's unique career path through the GTA world, referencing his time with V-Rock and the authenticity of his name. It's got a nice sense of winking at the fans and letting them in on the jokes, whilst delivering on expectation every time.
