4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYYtODT5EI8 Continuing the trend of 80's love letters, Vice City Stories isn't quite as strong as the game its named after, but it's still an entertaining trip through the bloodshed Rockstar is known for. It's clearly similar to Liberty City Stories, taking place before Vice City and setting up a lot of threads that pay off in the main game. The soundtrack also gave it a very strong connection to Vice City itself, as it is crafted with just as much care and respect. Taking into account that LCS and VCS were initially created for a handheld system, the PSP, and then later ported to the PlayStation 2, it's something of a marvel to see what Rockstar was able to do. Handheld gaming has always been limited, but Rockstar was able to cram in a very substantial amount of tracks. And just like Vice City, the tracks were like a time capsule of nostalgia and childhood memories. It sent you rocking back into the 1980's with reckless flare, so much so that can absolutely feel the affection Rockstar had for the era.
