GTA V: 10 Reasons It’s Guaranteed to Cause Controversy

3. The Same Old Story

Every time a new GTA game is released, it€™s the same old story, controversy-wise. It drops, it outsells almost everything on the shelves and then people start boycotting it. Lather, rinse, repeat. In many ways, it was one of the first €˜folk devils€™ of gaming (one of: you also had Doom and Duke Nukem, amongst others) and it has a long and storied history of controversy, which, as I€™ve said before, probably attributes to how massively hyped GTA V is. To fans of the series, this perpetual controversy has grown tiresome, simply because of its grinding inevitability. And these boycotters rarely ever achieve anything, so why do they still bother? Who knows; maybe they€™re gluttons for punishment; maybe they actually believe they€™re saving the world; maybe they€™re only happy when they€™re publically complaining about something. Suffice to say, they€™ll be back for GTA V, ready for us to not give a sh*t all over again.
