6. Size and Depth

Perhaps one of the most dazzlingly exciting prospects that I read when researching yesterday's
GTA Announcements piece was the sheer, agoraphobia-inducing size of the in game world. If you missed the piece, let me just recap: GTA V's map is bigger than that of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and GTA IV
combined. When I originally typed that nugget of information out, I literally did a comedy double-take. 'Surely
not', I thought. I checked the source again. No, that's what it said. Then came the dawning realisation that GTA V's map is not only the biggest map in the entire series but potentially one of the largest this side of the MMORPG. To add to the depth and to the texture of this unprecedentedly massive gaming world, Los Santos features many different types of landcape: beachfronts, suburbs, airports, military bases and apprently, a vast, open desert wilderness that promises to make Assassin's Creed III's Frontier look like the back yard of an inner-city council house. For that reason, history is most certainly in the making.
