GTA V: 5 Reasons Why Multiple Protagonists Is A Great Idea (And 3 Ways It Could Suck)

3. What Happens To The Other Characters When We're Not In Control?

GTAmultiple For all the potentially positive features I have pointed out to support the idea of including multiple protagonists in the series, there are still detractors out there who claim having three controllable characters is a bad idea, and to some extent, I agree with them. One of the biggest drawbacks from having multiple protagonists in GTA V could be during missions when the two other guys aren't under our control. Very little has actually been said about what happens to Trevor and Francis when we are playing as Michael, for instance, and it is uncertain whether or not they become AI controlled characters. If they do become AI controlled characters, this could be extremely annoying, especially if they suddenly pop up in a mission and get themselves shot at and killed by a bunch of bad guys, ergo failing the mission in the process. I didn't like missions in previous Grand Theft Auto titles where we were responsible for the life of another character - it was a stressful experience, especially because they were so dumb and regularly failed the mission for us by getting themselves shot. It remains to be seen how Rockstar deal with the additional non-human-controlled characters and if it will be more hassle than good.
