GTA V Getting Some Help From MAFIA II

Mafia II developer 2K Czech is helping in the development of Rockstar's mega franchise Grand Theft Auto V.

According to a report out today, Mafia II developer 2K Czech is helping in the development of Rockstar's mega franchise Grand Theft Auto V. Apparently 2K Czech has been helping Rockstar with production animations for cutscenes and gameplay. In addition, Rockstar is sharing trade secrets with 2K Czech to help them grow as a developer. Take Two wants to turn the Mafia games into a major franchise so Rockstar is sharing some of their tech knowledge with 2K Czech in hopes that the developer will become as strong as some of the other Rockstar studios. Even though Mafia III has apparently gone into full production there is no timetable as to when the game will even be shown let alone released. There was a report that 2K was in attendance for the Durango developers summit (codename for the next gen Microsoft console), so there is a chance that Mafia III is being developed for next generation consoles. Mafia II divided a lot of people with some great characters and story telling, while at the same time the gameplay was a major criticism. However, this is all still a rumor until Take Two confirms any of this. However, I would say it is not out of the ordinary for Rockstar to work with and help other studios develop games like they did with Team Bondi and LA Noire.
