GTA V New-Gen Release Date And 16 Hyper-Detailed Screenshots

15. Waiting For The Train

Looks like Michael missed his train home... and that it may have been his fault. Last-gen GTA V didn't let us blow a train off the tracks, and we're a bit doubtful that's what's happening here. More than likely, our good pal Michael has simply done a terrible job parking his car. Regardless, the ensuing explosion, however out-of-focus it may be, looks loaded with tiny, fiery detail. The narrow beams of steel crossing and connecting the radio towers in the faraway background are visible, a detail you'd expect to pop-in on last-gen hardware. The textures on the passing rail-car are noticeably sharper with effectively metallic, yet matte-blue paint and dirt plastered on the undercarriage. The lighting clearly places the sun directly above and behind Micheal, as his forward facing shadows are appropriately cast with laser-edged definition. Cool guys don't look at explosions, a philosophy that also follows Franklin whenever he's...

14. Checking Out Of A Motel

Cool guys also don't show their faces. Faces aren't cool! What is cool is that ruffly look to Franklin's jacket, accentuated by those blazing desert sunbeams. The higher contrast of darks and lights in the new-gen lighting upgrade is best exemplified here by the stark difference between the well-lit portions and the faded shade from the Motel's overhang. It's all familiar, but so much sharper all around. That extra level of detail brings out the best in large-scale mayhem scenarios. That same polish is evident during a lovely nighttime stroll, when it's all you can do to stop yourself from...

13. Hitting A Mime In The Face With A Bat

Gorgeous lighting is the centrepiece once again. Check out that nuanced, yet clear-cut glow hitting Trevor from both sides, no doubt originating from dynamic light sources within the environment. Notice the shadow of the mime's hand on his own crotch and the subtle shadows below his cheekbones and on the ridges of his face, giving depth and texture to the face paint. What about those little crinkles in his gloves? It's hard to tell if the shop windows are actual 3D displays, but their rich colors and photo-real props look vivid from this angle. Grand Theft Auto's titular crime-mechanic can yield even sweeter photo-ops, like...
