GTA VI: 7 Awesome Things From V That Must Return

6. Purchasing Businesses

Aside from the spin-off GTA: Vice City Stories game on the old PSP system, Rockstar has always made purchasing homes and businesses a fairly paper-thin part of the Grand Theft Auto experience. The power of the PS4 and Xbox One should allow developers to make property development and business management much more of a prevalent part of the game, obviously without sacrificing fun. Let's be honest, few people would be turned on by the prospect of turning GTA into Sim City, but why not open up the possibilities with this feature? GTA should be about living in fantasy, and if users are given the chance to own multiple businesses and develop them, thus making more money in-game, there's a likelihood that they'll use it. In Vice City Stories, gamers could pretty much take over the city, but there was always the over-riding threat of rivals trying to take business ventures from them. It was fun at first, but quickly devolved into a dull game of chasing bad guys around the map. That's something Rockstar would need to be wary of, and if they find a way around it this could be a cool addition to the overall gameplay in VI, perhaps even playing a role in the story. Even if it's just a background distraction, Rockstar should definitely keep in the feature of purchasing businesses, houses and other amenities - it helped V feel like a proper user-controlled environment, rather than just a big empty sandbox.
