Can you name any female characters in the GTA series? Sure there's Catalina who you'll remember for all the wrong reasons, and... erm... Michael's wife who's more famous for Trevor's comment on her chest than anything else - but besides them for the most part women in the entire GTA universe are just there to either be rescued, killed or ridiculed in cutscenes. Now this isn't some extremist-tinged feminist rant, but you have to admit the Saints Row series has done a perfect job at presenting both genders equally (albeit ridiculously, but still) whereas Rockstar frames GTA essentially as a boy's club. Putting you in the shoes of either a career criminal forever up against the tenets of modern society's potential for underlying sexism would be a great sense of motivation, not to mention letting the writing team flesh out the whole other side of gender to the universe itself. Rockstar did a pretty great job with Bonnie McFarlane in Red Dead as she was as highly motivated, respect-commanding woman in charge of her own business, but nowhere in GTA is there anyone even close to this.
