Halo: The Master Chief Collection - 10 Incredible Moments You Need To Revisit

3. Inside Private Jenkins Head

Game: Halo: Combat Evolved Level: 343 Guilty Spark Having broken into Halo's Control Room, the sixth mission of Halo sees Chief tasked with stopping Captain Keyes from reaching a building he believes is a weapons cache. What sounds like a straight forward rescue mission is actually anything but - 343 Guilty Spark serves as the introduction to a very dangerous enemy. The Flood are a parasitic organism which consumes sentient life and reproduces almost instantly; they're a pretty big threat to the galaxy. The introduction to the Flood is done brilliantly though - the cutscene which first unveils the force is very reminiscent of classic horror films like Alien. Having already discovered a series of dead bodies and a crazed marine, Chief finds a group of dead UNSC soldiers and removes a chip from one soldier's helmet to view the footage his HUD recorded. Here, the player sees Keyes' marines venture into the facility but quickly become overcome by the mysterious Flood in some pretty shocking scenes. 343 Guilty Spark is deliberately designed to inspire a creeping sense of dread and the recording from Jenkins' helmet is the icing on the cake. Halo doesn't venture into horror territory much but it does the genre justice here.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
