Horizon Zero Dawn Gameplay Roundup: 11 Things You Need To Know

9. Basic Combat Looks Very Generic

It genuinely hurts to say this - and hopefully the full game can allay these fears when we get a bigger chunk of time to see what's on offer - but from what's out there at the moment, everything about how you control Aloy looks like a 'too close for comfort' copy of Shadow of Mordor/Assassin's Creed.

I'm talking hiding in the tall grass to avoid detection, using a vision mode to scout and tag enemies through walls, climbing points of the environment to execute stealth kills, whistling to attract enemies or in Mordor's case, equipping a bow and arrow only for time to slow as you line up a sequence of hits.

It's not that these systems aren't fun or enjoyable - Aloy stabbing a dude in the face and backflip-kicking them away looks badass - but when the art design and world of Horizon is so fantastically original, it's a shame the gameplay looks to be more of what we've seen a lot of already this decade.
