Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity REVIEW - 5 Ups & 3 Downs
3. UP - Mechanics Are Tight And Fluid
Age of Calamity gives the player a lot of range with how they can dispose of enemies. You can use each character's standardised weapon, conjure magic with enchanted rods, or perform devastating attacks using the Runes.
Because certain baddies are vulnerable and resistant to different attacks, you need to learn quickly how to switch tactics in mid-battle. Because the action is so relentless, it would be easy for the player to get a bit muddled on which enemy to attack or where to go.
However, the fighting mechanics are so fluid, you will find yourself transitioning from one form of attack from another with ease. Although a lot of attacks against the bigger enemies require pinpoint precision and timing, the tight mechanics make the combat not as daunting as it may sound.
Even if you don't get the hang of certain attacks at first, the loading screens display tons of tips on the best way to use your weapons. Before you know it, you'll be deflecting a Guardian laser with a shield parry while performing a Flurry Rush on a Wizzrobe without breaking a sweat.
