L.A. Noire 2: 5 Reasons Rockstar Should Make It (And 5 Reasons To Avoid)
3. Why They Shouldn't: L.A Noire Had A Lot Of Gameplay Issues
When it comes to criticism, Rockstar Games is usually reprimanded by reviewers and players for lack of creativity in its gameplay. The Grand Theft Auto games utilises a basic cover-shooter system which has subsequently been added to other Rockstar titles. Even Red Dead Redemption 2 has been criticised for its shooting mechanics and L.A Noire falls victim to the same issue.
L.A Noire does not need to rely on action and gameplay in order to be entertaining. The game's best moments are when you are investigating a crime scene, interrogating a suspect or using your brain to solve the case yourself. L.A Noire has often been described as an interactive movie. Therefore, when Cole Phelps engages in a longwinded gunfight involving twenty armed goons atop a movie set, it seems very out of place. The shooting mechanics and controls in general are painstakingly stiff, clunky, slow and takes you out of the suspense of the case. It's not what the game is about.
Due to L.A Noire's mediocre gameplay controls, the likelyhood of a sequel falling victim to boring shootouts with little experimentation in its gameplay may put players off as it did previously, ruining the enjoyment of the story.
