L.A. Noire 2: 5 Reasons Rockstar Should Make It (And 5 Reasons To Avoid)
4. Why They Should: Hardware, Graphics and Software Have Developed Since 2011
L.A Noire was a video game that was very advanced for its time. It was one of the most expensive titles at the time of its release for a reason: A huge open world, a main story clocking in at around twenty four hours and brand new MotionScan technology.
It was a game built for hardware that was not game consoles, or at least the current game consoles that were available at the time being the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. In fact, these hardware limitations are materialised through the three discs which accompany a physical copy of L.A Noire for the Xbox 360.
However, games in general have developed exponentially since 2011. Red Dead Redemption 2 is able to run on one single disc perfectly fine aside from the occasional spouts of aeroplane noises roaring from the PlayStation 4. It contains 122GB of storage space and counting. Furthermore, the game showcases some of the best graphics and detail available.
Therefore, Rockstar has the tools available to create a sequel to L.A Noire which maintains the gameplay and tone of the first but improves greatly upon the graphics, worldbuilding and attention to detail just like Red Dead Redemption 2 did.
